Subject: REFUND OF BANK CHARGES

M.B.N.A. have closed my account and sold my account to Link Finance last year, after many letters going to and fro M.B.N.A. has agreed to pay the sum of £552 for bank charges also £122.85 in total £674.85. The only bad part is they have refused to send me a cheque for that sum, they stated they will deduct the amount from what I have to pay Link. Is there any way I can force M.B.N.A. to send me the cheque [GLC note: why do you need to pay money to Link?   Ask for details of the contractual basis of charges which Link believe they are entitled to].

Just like to say to everyone, don't let the b******s grind you down! Keep complaining.

I have recieved refunds from Capital One, MBNA and Barclays totaling £700, but A and L refuse to budge.

Numerous letters have been sent and received, they claim the OFT are not in consultation with them regarding default charges. They insist their charges are in line with other organisations in the industry, so I asked them why, if they wished to be compared to these other organisatons, were they not refunding unfair charges as they were?

In early June our local paper, The Leicester Mercury, reported that A and L were closing consumers accounts who had taken them to court in relation to charges, they are not even contesting the cases. I urge all of you out there to take them to court if you do not receive a refund, if we all do it, they will realise they are fighting a losing battle.

Subject: re bank charges refunded

Hi,

Many thanks to the advice offered on your site.

I sent one of your letters to Virgin Credit Card (MBNA) a few weeks ago asking for a refund of all my charges that were impossed since the account was opened. this amounted to approx £1200.

I received a call today from MBNA saying as a goodwill jesture that they would retrun £160.00 which i did not accept. I insisted that i would be happy with at least 50%. After about 10 mins I got a call back with an offer of £626.00 which
they are refunding to me in the next 7 days.

I have also sent letters to Barclays/Nat West/Halifax and capital one of which only Barclays have replied.

Do you have any advise if the company has not replied or should I raise a court case even if the account is no longer open.

Kind regards,
